About us

The PAN-AMERICAN COMMITTEE OF JUDGES FOR THE SOCIAL RIGHTS AND FRANCISCAN DOCTRINE was constituted according to the Constitutive Act given on June 4, 2019 in the Vatican City and under the inspiration of the words of His Holiness Pope Francis, who personally subscribed. The denomination PAN-AMERICAN COMMITTEE OF JUDGES FOR SOCIAL RIGHTS AND FRANCISCAN DOCTRINE, includes all the judges participating in the First Pan-American Summit of Judges for Social Rights and the Franciscan Doctrine, held on days 3 and 4 of June, 2019 in the Vatican City and those magistrates and officials of the Public Ministry and Public Defense who had effectively participated in said Summit as well as to all the judges who wish to join in the future, and members of the Public Ministry and Public Defense according to the conditions of the Statute.The COMMITTEE will currently be headed by a PROMOTING BOARD, whose members were appointed in the Constitutive Act of June 4, 2019, signed by Pope Francis and consisting of seven members from different countries:

The COMMITTEE operates in direct relationship with the Pontifical Academy of Sciences of the Vatican, hence the participation of its Chancellor Monsignor Marcelo SÁNCHEZ SORONDO and has its headquarters for two years in the country where the Chairman of the Board resides.
